Is this the logo for the spanking crowd?

A few days ago I asked if we spankers needed a logo to match the BDSM triskele, or should we just use that as our symbol as well? Quite a debate started and I now want to add my own modest proposal to the pot. Let's use the image of Janus as the symbol that indicates here be a spanking man.

What has a Roman god got to do with spanking? Actually, rather more than a triskele has to do with BDSM if you think about it. Janus is the name of a celebrated spanking magazine that started in the very late 1960s and only ceased production last year. The Janus shop still exists in London, and for a whole generation, Janus is equated with spanking.

However, the beautiful thing about this imagery is that it gives us deniability if we use it on our presentation cards and the like. Janus was a senior figure in the Roman pantheon, he was the divine being who looked ahead to the future and back to the past, the god of beginnings and endings, alpha and omega.

It does not need the sharpest of minds to see that this imagery can be waffled away if a curious vanilla secretary starts asking silly questions about a business card. On the other hand, for anyone in the know, the meaning of the imagery would be immediately apparent.

We don't even need to get involved in the tedious BDSM debate that is going on at present as to how exactly their triskale should be drawn.  People can use any image of Janus that they choose. The important thing is that we all use the image of the Roman god to denote an interest in la cosa nostra.
